Points of View, The State of Conscious Vision Recovery Today

Nine million Americans with macular degeneration are losing their vision, their ability to watch transformational movies, to read inspirational books and to navigate their world safely. Their world is getting smaller, darker and less vibrant.

Eyesight and vision loss is a reality for millions of people worldwide.

It doesn’t have to be that way. My work here at Raising Consciousness Now is to share this message: Your eyes and perspective on the world can change and can improve as you get older. The myth that things just get worse and worse as you age has been around too long. It is a way of thinking that has outlived its usefulness.

Look around yourself. Do you like what you see? Are the colors as vibrant as you would like? Do you see with clarity your purpose and the purpose of the people and things around you? Do you see the good, the resources, and the support that you want?

You can change any aspect of how you see from your eyesight, your vision of the world, what you see around you, what you put your attention on, and what you are consciously observing.

The purpose of my speaking engagements, books and my chapter, The Eyes Observing Your World in Christine Kloser’s anthology Pebbles in the Pond, Transforming the World One Person at a Time is to demonstrate that like me, you can improve your vision: eyesight, insight and level of hope as you get older.

At 28, I was working as a professional photographer, then found myself in an ophthalmologist’s office. In his white coat, impressive degrees hanging on the wall, he diagnosed me with Keratoconus, a genetic corneal disease. “Kim, it is genetic so there is nothing you can do. You should consider how your life will go if you become blind!”

That day propelled me into massage school, a profession where you don’t need to be able to see, then on to a PhD in Integrative Medicine focused on brain health, especially Parkinson’s disease. I found solutions for myself and my clients in massage therapy to improve blood flow to the head and in acupuncture and acupressure to improve liver and gallbladder health.

In traditional Chinese medicine thought, the liver and gallbladder meridians or string of reflex points surround the eyes. Improving your liver and gallbladder, which are also associated with the emotion anger can improve vision as well as your perspective on what you see. Blending Chinese medicine and what quantum physicists teach, I believe, the observer and what you choose to observe matters. It matters to your eyesight, your frame of mind and emotional states.

I learned that nutrition affects our eyes and taking essential fatty acids like fish oils, using olive oil and eating avocados and cashews can improve eye health. I studied osteopathic manual medicine, integrative manual therapy, even matrix energetics in my search for choices, options and alternatives for myself and along the way found powerful ways to improve my vision.

I am now certified in matrix energetics. Developed by Richard Bartlett, matrix energetics is a kind of Information Medicine, when friends asked me what the first class was like, I said, “You know that scene in Mary Poppins where the uncle is laughing floating up to the ceiling and then the kids start laughing and floating up. Like that for three days.” These are the lengths to which I have gone to find solutions for myself and my clients.

The spectacular news: Today at 55 my vision is better than ever and I have been migraine-free for the past 10 years. These results fire my goal to change the global face of vision disorders, genetic issues and neurodegenerative conditions.

I consciously know in my body and in my eyes that I can heal. I know from my clients’ experiences that all of us can improve the quality of our lives after a devastating genetic diagnosis, a degenerative disease process or a serious injury. Yes, that includes you.

For more inspiration and how you can heal your vision see my chapter in Christine Kloser’s anthology Pebbles in the Pond, Transforming the World One Person at a Time. Check out the “eye candy” I have posted on my Pinterest boards.
