Spiritual Intelligence – Are You Curious?
Most of us have heard about Emotional Intelligence and you may have even worked on increasing your EQ skills. I am very fortunate to have had the opportunity to get to know Cindy Wigglesworth personally and to get training with her. In early 2010 my beloved soul sister, Debbie de la Cuesta, told me that she would be taking the Spiritual Intelligence Assessment Certification training and that I needed to do the same. I listen her and it was a life changing experience for me. I do not say this lightly and I know that many people are hyping up a lot of things these days. Taking the SQ21 Spiritual Intelligence Assessment and the subsequent coaches certification training helped me to see where my blind spots are, the concrete skills I could choose to develop and to be able to witness my behavior from a new vantage point.
This training helped me to have a new language to things that I felt, believed and though but had no words for. It helped Debbie and I further develop our work with clients and the teaching we were doing on the shadow aspects of the self. It helped me to more easily access my wisdom and compassion in difficult situations and confronted me to deal with me stress better.
This work also helped me realize why I had gotten to a place of burnout in my field. This was something I felt deep shame about. I began to understand that all of the crisis work I was involved with that I handled with calm and poise on the outside took its toll on the inside. I realized that not only was developing my emotional and spiritual intelligence important but that my physical intelligence was the base that supports all the other intelligences. I became chronically ill along with the burnout and now I could see how all the puzzle pieces fit together and more importantly how I needed to proceed in my life with this new information.
After my training I began to use the assessment with my coaching and psychotherapy clients, the only problem was that there were no book and very little literature to hand out to my clients. NOW that problem is gone with the birth of this book!
Here is my review of the book on Amazon.com-
"I am writing this book review because I whole-heartedly and unequivocally believe that the work that Cindy Wigglesworth has presented in this book is a game changer for leaders in large corporations, small businesses and for each of us in our own personal relationships.
Early in my career I watch the book Emotional Intelligence gain momentum and today is among the top books used in business, education, coaching and therapy. This book on The 21 Skills of Spiritual Intelligence is the next step in developing yourself in every area of your life. If you want to be a better parent, partner, leader, coach or employee then this book will put you on the road to your goals.
Cindy explains the many years of research that went into the Spiritual Intelligence Assessment and this book. She does a wonderful job of taking something that is non-tangible and difficult to describe and making it much more concrete with skills to build on. The most powerful aspect of the book is her “9 Steps to Shifting to Higher Self” and the everyday ways to keep developing your spiritual intelligence.
Cindy does not preach at us, as the reader, but walks with us in a humble and compassionate way through developing our spiritual intelligence while strengthening our emotional intelligence as well. She makes the process of developing into our best selves doable."
