Barbara Alexander is a change agent whose passion is human growth and development. She has  a M.A. in Counseling Psychology, with a post graduate certificate in Gestalt Therapy and practiced as a licensed psychotherapist for 20 years. During this time she consulted and provided training in the private and non-profit sectors. She also taught Gestalt Therapy.

 

Two powerful spiritual experiences provided the awakening that radically changed her perspective on what constituted human transformation. Subsequently Barbara earned a Masters of Divinity with a Spirituality Concentration and a Diploma in the Art of Spiritual Direction. During that time Ken Wilber’s Integral Theory, the beautiful map that illuminates the complex terrain of human development became her framework, integrating her deep love of spirituality and psychology into a coherent whole. Her training continued by participating in several workshops at the Integral Institute and being certified as an Integral Master Coach through Integral Coaching Canada.

 

The Unique Self Teachings were foundational for the next phase of Barbara’s career. This body of work, which emerged from the gathering of spiritual teachers convened at the Integral Institute in the early 2000’s, has been articulated by Dr. Marc Gafni and called by Ken Wilber the next important chapter in Integral Spirituality. It deepens the theoretical and provides the practical framework for psycho-spiritual development.

 

In 2013 Barbara began a collaboration with colleague, Claire Molinard, to develop a methodology, the Unique Self Emergence Process, using the Unique Self Teachings as the theoretical foundation. Further it draws on the work of Sally Kempton, Ken Wilber, Dr. Susan Rhodes, Dr. Robert Kegan, Dustin DiPerna, Dr. Otto Scharmer, Kathleen Dowling Singh, Dr. Rick Hanson, Abbot Jun Po Denis Kelly, Dr. Stephen Wolinsky, and Dr. Susanne Cook-Greuter to provide a powerful change technology they teach to spiritual directors, therapists, coaches, body workers and consultants in the US and Europe.

 

Barbara’s home is Marin County, CA. where she works with individuals in person and virtually. It is her deep honor to assist others to discover their True Self and realize how that Oneness shows up uniquely in each of us.
